Topic outline
Course Overview
Cascade funding, also known as Financial Support for Third Parties (FSTP), is a mechanism of the European Commission to distribute public funding in order to assist beneficiaries, such as start-ups, scale-ups, SME and/or mid-caps, in the uptake or development of digital innovation.
It is a feature available for some programmes in the Funding & Tenders Portal and only the Horizon and Digital programmes may foresee the use of the FSTP.
The objective of this course is to provide guidelines on how to prepare a competitive proposal under restrictions provided by the FSTP, based on the case of three types of Open Calls within the H2020 SMART4ALL project. Beyond that, the course has an ambition to increase the overall quality of submitted proposal in all future FSTP actions.
Topics have been selected based on different types of calls and explain the preparation of small proposals for Knowledge Transfer Pathfinder Experiments (KTE), large proposals for Focused Technology Transfer Pathfinder Experiments (FTTE) revolving around a single digital innovation domain and involving only two partners, and finally large proposals for Cross-domain Technology Transfer Experiments (CTTE) involving multiple partners and dealing with several domains of digital innovation.
Where available, lectures, slides and presentations in languages other than English have been added, such as Serbian, Croatian, Bosnian, Montenegrin, Macedonian, Albanian and Slovenian.
Knowledge Transfer Experiments
Knowledge Transfer Experiments (KTE) belong to a novel type of experiments allowing smaller projects, or less mature ideas to be presented, tested and thus potentially find the fertile ground to grow and reveal its product potentials. KTEs act as internships / traineeships, apprenticeships and short-term training programmes for unemployed people for vacant digital jobs.
Expected duration: short-term (3 months)
Scheme: Internships projects between two different entities from two different EU Countries: one Academic/Industrial partner who act as Sending Organization and one Academic/Industrial partner who act as Host Organization. Beneficiaries
Budget: up to 8,000€ to cover mobility allowance for implementing the internship.

Cross-Domain Technology Transfer Experiments
Cross-domain Technology Transfer Experiments are complex multidisciplinary transfers and productization of novel CLEC CPS and the IoT technologies to wider markets, which include 3 partners from at least 2 different countries and spread over two different digital innovation domains.
Expected duration: short-term (9 months)
Scheme: Three (3) entities from at least two different EU Countries (at least one SME; the experiment should be led by the SME)
